How to Go About Organising a Yacht Wedding?

By  |

If you’ve never been to one or seen one, a classy yacht wedding is certainly an extremely elegant affair, and having to organise this kind of wedding can be considerably fun.

  • Naturally, the very first thing you will require when organising such a lavish event is, the yacht.
  • Next will be working out just how many guests you will have, and then decide if the yacht will be moving or at anchor.
  • The invitations and decorations can have either a maritime theme or perhaps just simple and elegant.
  • The final touch of the perfect yacht wedding would be the “Just Married” sign attached to the stern of the boat.

Getting it On board

  • Acquiring a cool looking boat for a yacht wedding can be simple and inexpensive, or it can be difficult and expensive and will be much easier to organise if you already have access to a yacht.
  • If you or someone you know owns a boat, it will make things that much easier as it can be quite difficult and costly to access a yacht should you not have one.
  • In many coastal areas, yachts are available to hire, although this can be expensive.
  • If you wish to organise a yacht wedding, and are looking for yachts in Hong Kong, you will have to keep the size of the boat in mind as safety regulations can limit the number of people legally allowed on it all at one time.
  • (And don’t forget the people who will be assisting you with the wedding, such as waiting staff and photographers!).

Anchors Away?

  • You must choose whether you want the yacht wedding to be mobile or at anchor.
  • Yachts that remain stationary and anchored would be preferable for anyone with the tendency to be seasick.
  • Whereas, a mobile yacht, otherwise, will provide everybody with constantly changing scenery.
  • When shipping out (pun intended!) invitations, consider them on being nautically shaped like anchors or ship’s steering wheels.
  • You may even wish to go so far and have a pirate theme for the day, although this may seem a little cheesy for some, other guests can have some fun dressing up for the day.
  • Otherwise, just plain elegant invitations can be used, maybe with a deep sea blue colouring, which will help in boosting its special maritime theme.

Making it Look Ship Shape

  • Decorations for a yacht wedding should be somewhat simple, and yet elegant.
  • Some table centrepieces made up with silk flowers should do the trick and flower garlands would look superb lining the pier and ramp heading out to the boat.
  • No wedding at all would be complete without the “Just Married” sign fixed to the stern of the craft and this message should be painted onto a large piece of cardboard and laminated for protection from water before being securely tied up at the back of the yacht.

Ahoy there! And away you go! Who wouldn’t wish for a cooler and more elegant wedding than one on a yacht?
